Hi..my xray result is ptb minimal of undetermined cavity and my dr. Request me to undergo sputum exam and the problem is i cannot spit my phlegm because i don t have cough...eventhough i tried so hard to cough but there is no phlegm...what should i do?

Yes. It's an important investigation for the diagnosis and there are ways to obtain the sputum sample. You can cough up sputum after nebulizing yourself with hypertonic saline in the morning. If not consult your doctor so that he can have your sample endoscopically and it has the highest yield in terms of diagnosing the disease.
